Alpha 1.1

Game Master Advice

  • Emphasize the game's flexible approach to challenges. Remind players that their faculties, powers, and arcanotech provide a wide array of solutions. Encourage them to think beyond combat, using their non-combat-orientated Capacities and Powers to resolve conflicts or discover secrets.

  • Use players' Origins and Defining Moments to weave personal story threads into the campaign. This not only enriches the narrative but also ensures that players feel directly connected to the world and its unfolding events. Tailor challenges and rewards to these backstories, making each session feel tailored and personal.

  • While planning encounters, consider the party's composition, its current resources (including Party Supplies and Party Wealth), and its overall arc. Adjust difficulty on the fly, not just through enemy strength but also by altering the environment or introducing unexpected allies or obstacles, keeping encounters fresh and engaging.

  • Turn failed checks into opportunities for story progression. Rather than stalling the narrative, a failed check should open alternative pathways, introduce new problems, or escalate the situation in interesting ways. This approach ensures continuous momentum, even in the face of setbacks.
