Alpha 1.1

Character Creation

Creating a character for Enigma is an adventure in itself, offering you the chance to bring to life a unique entity ready to explore a world where magic and technology intertwine. Below is a comprehensive guide that walks you through each step of character creation, followed by a template for a character sheet and an example of a filled-out sheet. This guide aims to equip players with the knowledge to craft their characters while assisting Game Masters in facilitating the process.

Concept

Begin by defining who your character is at their core. Consider their personality, aspirations, and the primary drive that sets them on the path of adventure.

Allocate CAPACITY Dice

Distribute your Capacity Dice (d4, d6, d8, d8, d10, d12) among the faculties: Endure, Navigate, Influence, Glean, Manifest, Attack. This step defines your character's capabilities and areas for growth.

Choose Origins

Create three Origins statements to outline your character's backstory, which influences gameplay through situational advantages or disadvantages.

Determine Life Points

Calculate your Life points, equal to the maximum value of your Endure die. This number reflects how many hits you can take before being in mortal peril.

Determine Speed

Calculate your Speed, equal to the maximum value of your Navigate Die. This number determines how many spaces travel during the Move action.

Select Powers

New adventurers start with 3 aptitude points to spend on powers as they wish, following the Powers section of this guide. If your campaign is supposed to represent experienced adventurers or you are joining a campaign part of the way through your Game Master might give you more aptitude points to start

Final Touches

Name your character, describe their appearance, and list any personal items. Note your parties starting Wealth Points and the Party Supplies Die size as determined by your GM.
