They specialize in embedding, extracting, and manipulating runes, transforming them into conduits of power that enhance themselves and their allies. Whether inscribing runes to strengthen a warrior’s strike, distorting space with arcane glyphs, or unraveling the ancient magic of forgotten relics, Runics serve as scholars, artisans, and warriors of esoteric magic.

In Nexus City, factions such as The Rusted value Runics for their ability to repurpose old runes into innovative arcanotech. In contrast, the Purifiers aim to control rune magic for doctrinal purposes. Runics must navigate this delicate balance, as their knowledge can be both a gift and a threat. Choosing the Runic class is the perfect option if you want to play a character who engraves magic into reality, wielding runes for power, insight, and control.

Runic Infusion

1st - Action - Manifest - Touch - Focus - 10 Minutes

The Runic inscribes a temporary rune onto an ally’s weapon or armor, enhancing its potential.

Touch a weapon. For the duration of this power, Attack Rolls made with that weapon have a +1 added to the roll. If the weapon already has a Rune of Brutality or Precision, increase that Rune’s bonus by 1 instead to a maximum of 3.

Rune Reader

1st - Passive - Glean - Self

The Runic possesses an innate understanding of rune scripts, magical inscriptions, and written languages.

Runic Displacement

2nd - Action - Manifest - 6 Spaces

The Runic manipulates space with a shifting glyph, forcefully repositioning a foe.

Choose a foe without the solo tag within range. They must succeed on an Endure check against your Manifest die or be teleported to an unoccupied space of your choice within range.

Rune Extraction

2nd - 1 Minute - Glean - Touch

The Runic carefully extracts a rune from an object, preserving its essence while minimizing damage.

Choose a Relic, weapon, armor, or other gear with an embedded rune. Perform a Manifest check contested by escalation. On a success, the rune is safely extracted and can be repurposed. On a failure, the rune is destroyed in the process.

Runic Warding

3rd - Reaction - Manifest - 6 Spaces
The Runic interposes a warding rune, absorbing an incoming attack.

When an attack hits a creature other than you within range, you can use your reaction to make a Manifest check. If your result exceeds the damage, reduce the damage by half.

Rune Embedding

3rd - 1 Minute - Manifest - Touch

The Runic process involves infusing an extracted rune into an item, permanently changing its properties.

Choose an item and attempt to imbue an Extracted rune into it. Perform a Manifest check contested by escalation. On a success, the chosen rune is now embedded and grants its effects. On a failure, the rune is destroyed in the process.

Runic Suppression

4th - Action - Manifest - 6 Spaces

The Runic inscribes a rune that suppresses the magical abilities of a foe.

Choose a foe within range. They must succeed on a Manifest check against your Manifest die or have disadvantage on Manifest checks until the end of their next turn.

Rune Harvesting

4th - 1 Minute - Glean - Touch

The Runic harnesses the raw energy from a rune, transforming it into personal growth.

Choose an extracted rune. Instead of embedding it, you can attempt to harvest the rune. Perform a Manifest check contested by escalation. On success, the chosen rune is harvested and turned into one aptitude point you can use or grant to another player. On a failure, the rune is wasted. Either way, the Rune is destroyed in the process. 

Runic Overload

5th - Action - Manifest - 12 Spaces - Focus - 1 Minute

The Runic unleashes the true potential of all their active runes, amplifying their effects beyond normal limits.

For the duration of this power, all Runes on your person increase by 1 step (Lesser > Greater > Master). Once the power ends, all of your Runes cease to function until you take a Rest.

Rune Fusion

5th - 1 Minute - Glean - Touch 

The Runic channels harness arcane forces to combine identical runes into a more powerful form.

Choose three identical runes of the same tier. Perform a Manifest check contested by escalation. On a success, the chosen runes are combined into 1 Rune of the next tier, which grants its effects. On a failure, the runes are destroyed in the process.
